Day 351- elements of life

1 March 2011- A bottle of New Zealand water. I love the bottle shape. Unfortuntely this water is not stocked anywhere in Brisbane and we only get it once a year, at an NZ wine tasting event. We get quite a few bottles though!

Day 343- more rain

21 February 2011- Not the most well composed picture ever, I know. This is Greg sweeping the floodwaters out. The back door of our house is flush witht he ground, and no sill. There is a concrete ramp sloping DOWN to the tiny concrete patio, one very small pie that backs up and a leaky gutter. Result- the laundry (but only the laundry) floods when we have heavy rain. MOst of the time we have precautions (rolled up towels) to prevent it, but the severity of this storm was not anticipated.

Day 338 - Waiting to be catalogued

16 February 2011- I mentioned we went to Bookfest? This was part of the haul- many many copies of various sci-fi/fantasy short story magazines- dating from the 1970s to now. I used to subscribe to one in the 90's so we didn't pick up some of those, but it was nice to get some of the earlier stuff.

Day 335 - Buttons

13 February 2011- Greg spent most of the day sleeping and feeling ill, so I entertained myself by putting some of the button assortment into pretty bottles. This bottle is a New Zealand water that we got at a wine event last year. We have a few and they are very nice lookng, but not very practical.

Day 330 - Eat your fruits and veggies

8 February 2011 - Some of the veggies and fruits prepped for dinner- here capsicum pieces and pears. We have some new pans that cook the veggies quickly and don't mix flavours- the pears are amazing.

Day 327 - Progress

5 February 2011 - Stll working on this cross stitch design. I am a very slow stitcher, and don't have enough time to do much each day. Thinking about what I can do with this when done- maybe a cushion?

Day 321 - Ready to clean

30 January 2011- Apparently clove oil is a great way to kill mould. Bleach just bleaches it, it doesn't kill. Our house has mould infiltrating all over the place (a month or two of rain creates many opportunities). UNfortunately, Most places in Brisbane that stock clove oil have mysteriously run out. Well not so mysteriously, a lot of people are cleaning up very damp houses. Our bottles were ordered online and arrived last week. A little bit of clove oil in some water, and we are good to go.

Day 319 - Dylan

28 January 2011 A picture of Dylan. Not necessarily a decorating choice we would have made, but my mother and stepfather had 5 pictures they wanted to get rid of, so it was determined that they would be lotteried off to the kids. Each picture (of various rock greats) was numbered, then we all drew a number out of the hat. We got Dylan. I don't know that Greg was that impressed but at least we didn't get Zappa!

Day 317 - Fan

26 January 2011- Ito's hot in Queensland in the summer, and we don't have aircon. So a fan lives in the living room. So too does the dust.

Day 315 - Nerf

24 January 2011- This is one of the "bullets" from a Nerf gun. They are apparently the toy to give at the moment. I obtained three when I did some pre-Christmas volunteering at the Salvos. They have decided not to pass these (or any other toy gun that isn't a water gun) as they promote violence. So volunteers are free to take them in exchange for a donation. The little ones I have are not too bad, but you can get automatic ones, and belt-fed bullets- insane. Anyway, Greg is highly entertained with this on accasion, and so we have Nerf bullets around the house. One lives on my desk at work, and serves as a frustration outlet and form of entertainment.
